I meant to get this up a while ago. Moodlerooms has been on a tear lately. First, they submitted a patch to Moodle to enhance integration with external systems for enrollment purposes. This isn’t standards-based integration in itself, but I’m told it aids with integration of things like LDAP and LIS. Next, they integrated Moodle with Google Apps using the SAML 2.0 and Oauth standards, so they can provision users to Google Apps from their Moodle accounts and then have them work with, for example, a Google doc within the Moodle environment without having to log in twice.
And finally, in a move that is near and dear to my heart, they announced integration with Oracle’s SAIP via the IMS LIS standard. Moodlerooms’ Moodle is now the first LIS consumer to support real-time integration.
Yay standards! Yay Moodlerooms!

Not only does MoodleRooms do open work, MoodleRooms also does great custom development. We worked with them to build a Moodle Block to integrate our Identify-X system to Moodle 1.9. Now Moodle users can verify their users identity at course start, assessment start or Moodle site login.
As interesting as the integration work is, Moodlerooms does terrible hosting work. For the fourth time in the past 6 months, in the midst of fully running online courses, their services have gone down with no clear explanation or notification to clients. Moodlerooms needs to stop developing new things and keep their current systems functional. On the East coast, it’s a loooooong way from satisfying service.
