Michael Staton has posted a good presentation on tips and tricks for teaching with Facebook. There’s nothing earth-shattering here, but for a guy like me who is still finding his way around the platform, there were some tips that I found to be very helpful.

Hi Michael,
I love the way you are conducting your research via facebook. I am researching instructor use of technology in blended learning courses and the kind of preparation needed for professional development and effective use of web 2.0 tools in instruction and learning. Many professional consultants have never used web 2.0 tools, yet are training educators on how to integrate technological tools into courses. I would be interested on what you and others think about the issue.

Nellie, I’ve found in my limited experience that the people that know the technology don’t really know where the pain is from the educator’s side, and the people that know the pain can’t describe it, don’t know what will fix it, and aren’t included in the technology design. PD is set up to address needs as an inappropriate medium instead of a direct dialog from those in technology and those in the classroom.
